![]() The Huntress A Lullaby For The Dark BACKGROUNDCW: Parental death, impalement, gore, child death/abuse, captivity, war. Anna was born to a loving mother in a remote woodland location in Russia, around the time of World War I. She was taught from a very young age how to survive the harsh conditions of the area, but nothing could have prepared her for the hunt that took her mother. During a harsh winter, Anna and her mother stalked an elk that ultimately charged Anna. Although her mother protected her from the beast, she was impaled on it's antlers in the process, and died a slow and painful death with her child held in her arms. The mother hummed Anna's favorite lullaby to calm her as she herself died. Eventually, when both her mother and the equally gored elk were dead and cold, Anna made her way back home. Although Anna was still a child, she had been taught well and was capable of facing the challenges ahead of her. She continued to practice her hunt religiously and lived off of her kills - squirrels, hares, minks, and foxes at first. Gradually, she worked her way up to stronger prey, even moving to predators like wolves and bears. Anna grew intm a dangerous predator, shedding her humanity over time and becoming more and more like a beast. When travelers inevitably strayed too close to her ever-widening hunting grounds, she discovered her new favorite prey: humans. Although, she never killed the little girls she came across, instead abducting them to "protect" them at her childhood cabin. War eventually descended upon the forest, with German soldiers passing through to attack the failing Russian Empire. Although the travelers no longer came, the soldiers made fine prey. She left swathes of dead bodies and axe wounds in her wake, stealing their supplies and trinkets as trophies and as gifts for the little ones she kept at home. Rumors spread that there was a bodark (a type of Russian werewolf) in the Red Forest. A Huntress, half-beast and half-human, who killed men and ate little girls. When the war passed, the rumors of the Huntress faded, as did evidence of her existence. The Entity had taken her by then, pulling Anna into Her realm to hunt for eternity. PERSONALITYKey traits: Cunning, determined, hyper focused, stuck in the past, motherly (conditional), adaptable, inclined towards violence, possessive/territorial. Anna was taught to survive at a young age and consequently has learned to adapt to her environment both physically and mentally. She is patient in stalking and learning about her prey, showing remarkable self control while waiting to strike. Though she started with small prey, it is specified that Anna moved on to hunting predators, and eventually humans, out of boredom. Predictability and a lack of challenge doesn't interest her - instead, she seeks danger and risk. That said, she's shown to be smart about her approach. In Tome III, she is shown to use the sounds of a dying soldier to attract other soldiers to her position, demonstrating a willingness to set traps and ambushes instead of exclusively giving chase in open combat. She can recognize when she is outnumbered or outgunned and prepares accordingly. At her core, Anna is a woman broken by longing and loss. Anna seeks comfort from memories and mementos. She stays in her childhood home, collects trophies from her kills, wears the masks her mother made, and hums her favorite lullaby - the same one her mother once sang to her as she lay dying. She desperately wants to be the mother she didn't get to have, to provide for someone or something that she loves dearly. Consistently, she targets young girls as her captives in reflection of this desire. She donned her signature hare mask to ease the fear of her captive children and is known to steal toys, trinkets, and other such things with them in mind. She cares deeply for them, although her methods are misguided, going so far as to leash them with rope to the wall to prevent them from wandering off into the forest, where they will surely die. Anna has a strong protective instinct, shown in both her actions towards these children she captures and her in-game perks, which reward area denial and putting pressure on her prey. Of course, the Entity would not have chosen her if she sought any of these things peacefully, or had any significant human empathy towards anyone but her little ones. Anna is violent and fierce in her hunts, causing grievous injury and delighting in the suffering of her prey. She views everyone she comes across as a prey animal first and foremost. A solitary sort to begin with, this mentality suits her just fine. She endured very little "convincing" from the Entity, eager to stalk prey in Her realm, free of the burdens of the real world. Her methods are primal and cruel, with most of her in-game add-on abilities revolving around inflicting various statuses on her prey to make it easier to finish what she starts and punish escape. ABILITIESSTATIC TRAITS/PERKS Ambidextrous (Physical Trait): Anna is capable of guiding her axe with her right hand and throwing her hatchets with her left hand, leading to the community belief that she is ambidextrous. Terror Radius (Psychic/Psionic Aura): Although hers is smaller than most killers, Anna carries the blessing of the Entity she serves, causing anxiety in those who get too close to her. The closer one gets, the worse the anxiety is. It is my belief that this effect can only happen freely in Her realms, only affecting psychic or psionic prying eyes in an RP context. Increased Endurance (Physical Trait): Due to both her upbringing and the blessings of the Entity, Anna can withstand quite a lot of physical abuse. Heightened Senses (Physical Trait): Able to see, hear, and smell better than average. Extrapolated from both in game lore articles and headcanon. INTERCHANGEABLE/OPTIONAL PERKS (Can only use MAX 4 per setting/game/thread) Territorial Imperative (Magical?? Psychic? Trait): As per "Territorial Imperative" perk in game, Anna is able to sense when someone enters her territory. Anyone entering and area she has designated as her territory will have their aura revealed to her for a brief few seconds. Beast of Prey (Mental Trait): As per the "Beast of Prey" perk in game. When engrossed in a hunt, Anna will become consumed with bloodlust and become briefly much more difficult to detect. Hex - Huntress Lullaby (Magical/Psychic Ability): As per the in game perk, "Hex: Huntress Lullaby". Although she must first construct a hex totem to carry produce this effect, as long as it remains intact, Anna puts increasing pressure on her prey. This causes them to lose focus and reduces random chance rolls by a significant amount. Sloppy Butcher (Physical Effect): As per the in game perk "Sloppy Butcher", wounds inflicted by Anna's AXE, but not by her HATCHETS, cause the target to bleed profusely until they specifically treat the wound. A Nurse's Calling (Psychic Ability): As per the in game teachable perk "A Nurse's Calling", Anna can sense the location of someone who is treating a wound that she caused. AU INFORMATIONAnna spent a while in a discord rp, where she was spit out of the Entity's realm into modern day America. The following developments occurred during her time in that setting, and are NOT in play unless it is specified that you are interacting with AU ANNA. + Fluent in Russian and English languages. Is generally mute anyway. + Cleaned up in appearance, although still wears the mask when at home or on the hunt. + Aware of modern technology, capable of basic computer/cell phone usage. + Dark brown eyes instead of black, glossy eyes. |
